Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

AuraPath helps growing companies put AI to work for real — production systems, not slide decks. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work directly with our clients: you sit with their team, figure out where AI actually moves the needle, and build the agents, automations, and tools that get it done. You own the whole thing, from the first sketch on a whiteboard to the version running in production.

It's consulting variety with product-engineering ownership. You're the person who hears "we should use AI for this" and, a few weeks later, hands back something that works.

A few engagements, to give you a feel for the work

• A political analytics firm needs raw race data turned into the briefs their analysts send to campaigns. You learn their stack, ship the pipeline, and keep improving it as the volume grows.
• A specialty contractor is losing hours every week to job-costing done by hand across spreadsheets and payroll. You design the automation, build it with Claude, and roll it out with their ops team.
• A business with locations all over wants one assistant that can answer anything about any site. You build v1, get it into production, and tune it with the people using it daily.

What you'll do

• Work alongside client teams to learn how they actually operate, then design AI that fits their real constraints instead of a demo's
• Build production agents, automations, and integrations (Claude and other LLMs, tool use, RAG, multi-step orchestration) that plug into whatever they already run — CRMs, ticketing, ERPs, internal tools
• Take things all the way: prototype, ship, add evals and monitoring, then stabilize it until it's boring
• Move between the business conversation and the code — you can run the discovery call and write what comes out of it
• Leave behind reusable patterns and tools that make the next project faster

What "done" means here

Done is in production and still working after you've moved on. Not a demo, not a prototype that stalls out — something the client comes to depend on. If it doesn't ship, it doesn't count.

What we're looking for

• Strong full-stack engineering — TypeScript and/or Python, comfortable from frontend to backend to the infra in between
• Real experience building with LLMs: prompt and context engineering, tool use, agents, RAG, evals (Claude a plus)
• You already build with AI — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, whatever's newest — and it's made you faster and your work better. We care about what you ship, not hours logged
• Pragmatism — you ship what works, then make it better
• You're easy to trust in front of a client: clear, honest about tradeoffs, calm under ambiguity
• Comfortable starting over in a new domain every few weeks

Nice to have: consulting, forward-deployed, or solutions-engineering background; early-stage startup experience; AI you've put into production that you can show us.
